2/3 cup split yellow chick peas lentils (soaked in water for 2-3 hrs)
1.5 cup red lentils (soaked in water for 1/2 an hour)
2-3 large onions – diced in big chunks
1 cup chopped cilantro
4-5 Thai green chilies finely diced (or adjust per your taste)
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chili powder (or adjust per your taste)
salt per your taste
5-6 sprays of Avocado oil (optional)
Directions
- Once lentils have soaked, remove water and give them a good rinse. Transfer lentils to a blender or food processor. Pulse it till its smooth but not too smooth. Add a bit of water to assist with blending but be careful not to add too much.
- Once pulsed, transfer mixture to a big dish. Add rest of the ingredients and mix gently. Don’t over mix or mix it too hard as onions will start to release water.
- Use your hand to lightly form patties, mixture will be bit loose but you can still form patties. Transfer to an air fryer, lightly spray with avocado oil and air fry for 25-30 minutes at 400 F. Remember to flip half way through. You can also bake them at 400 F for 30 minutes if you don’t have an air fryer. Once ready, serve it immediately while still warm, along with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
Notes
- These are best tasting if you serve them while still hot.
- If you’re not trying to lose weight, Deep frying these patties in a neutral oil gives the best results 🙂
