Ingredients
1000g (about 1 medium size) raw green cabbage (finely diced)
1 medium size onion
1 grated medium size carrot
1/2 cup frozen green peas
2/3 tsp cumin powder
2/3 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp ginger paste
1 tsp minced garlic
1 green Thai Chili finely diced (optional per tolerance)
Salt per taste
1/4 cup cilantro to add at the end (optional)
3-4 sprays of Avocado oil spray (optional)
Directions
- Start by finely dicing the onion. Spray non-stick frying pan with 3-4 sprays. Add onion to a non stick frying pan and sauté till golden brown (about 5-6 minutes) on low/medium heat.
- While onions are browning, finely dice cabbage, grate carrot and keep aside. Make sure to stir onions occasionally to allow them to brown evenly.
- Once onions have browned, add minced ginger, garlic and finely diced green chili. Sautee for about 40 seconds to a minute.
- Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, salt per your taste and sauté for another 40 seconds to a minute.
- Add diced cabbage and gently stir to combine the spices evenly. Close the lid and continue to cook cabbage on low/medium heat for about 5 minutes.
- After 5 minutes, add grated carrot, green peas, mix to combine. Close the lid and continue to cook for another 4-5 minutes. Continue to stir in between to allow everything to cook evenly.
- Remove the lid and cook for another 3-4 minutes on open flames. Give it a final taste test and adjust any salt. Sprinkle chopped cilantro on top. Serve as a side dish with any of your dishes. Watch my YouTube video linked below to see how I made this.
