This is one of the quickest ways to enjoy silken tofu. Soft tofu is gently warmed and topped with a savory sauce made with tamari, sesame oil, chili crisp, and fresh herbs. It’s light, flavorful, and comes together in just a few minutes.
Serve it on its own as a snack or over rice with fresh vegetables for a simple meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 block of soft silken tofu

  • 1 green onion, sliced

  • Small handful fresh cilantro, chopped

  • Sauce
  • 1 tbsp low-sodium tamari or soy sauce

  • 2 tsp coconut sugar or maple syrup

  • ½ tsp sesame seed oil (optional but recommended)

  • 1 tbsp water (to dilute – optional)

  • 1 tsp chili crisp oil

  • ½ tsp freshly grated ginger

  • Optional Toppings for serving:
  • Cooked white rice

  • Sliced cucumber

  • Grated carrots

Directions

  • Prepare the Tofu: Start with a brick of soft silken tofu. Carefully open the package and gently flip the tofu upside down onto a plate so it slides out without breaking. Place the tofu in the microwave and heat for about 45 seconds to 1 minute to warm it slightly.
  • Prepare the Fresh Toppings: Slice the green onion and chop the fresh cilantro. Set aside.
  • Make the Sauce In a small bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients. Add the chopped cilantro and green onions and mix everything well.
  • Assemble the Dish: Pour the prepared sauce evenly over the warm silken tofu.
  • Serve and Enjoy the tofu as is, or serve it over white rice with sliced cucumber or shredded carrots on the side for a quick meal.
